What is the difference between structural adhesive and glass adhesive?

You may think that "structural glue" and "glass glue" are similar, they are both sticky things, right?

In fact, these two are not just different in name, their performance, usage, and construction methods all have significant differences.

Differences in basic physical performance

From a chemical perspective, structural adhesives are mainly made of modified silane polymers, which have excellent molecular structure stability. The silicon oxygen bonds in its molecular chain have extremely strong chemical bond energy and can form stable chemical bonds on the surface of the material.

Glass glue is mainly composed of silicone polymers, with a relatively simple molecular structure, and relies mainly on van der Waals forces to achieve physical adsorption.

The difference in molecular weight is the fundamental reason for the huge difference in performance between the two adhesives, and the molecular weight of structural adhesives is usually 2-3 times that of glass adhesives.

Glass glue is packaged in hard plastic cylinders, usually with a specification of 300ml, and is designed for small-scale joint filling construction.

The curing speed of structural adhesive is 30% faster than that of glass adhesive, due to its unique chemical composition. The difference in packaging design is not only reflected in appearance, but more importantly, it reflects the essential differences between the two products in terms of usage scenarios and construction methods.
